This is a beautiful large antique anchor brooch, dating to the early 1900s.
The brooch is made of sterling silver. It has pretty rose gold hearts and flowers, and a detailed rose gold boat in the centre. The flower at the top is yellow gold.
The brooch is complete with its original pin and C clasp fastener.
This type of brooch is referred to as a 'sweetheart' brooch. This is because of its endearing symbolic meaning.
The anchor on this brooch represents hope. It would have been given to the sweetheart of a sailor or naval officer.
Full Birmingham assay office hallmark with date letter stamp for 1913.
Makers stamp, S BROS.
Excellent condition with minor light wear/light tarnish.
